Chapman’s Peak Drive

- Chapman's Peak Drive was hacked out of the face of the mountain between 1915 and 1922, and at the time was regarded as a major feat of engineering. In 1991, the road was featured in an advertisement for Mercedes Benz, in which a 1988 car crash was recreated, to illustrate the safety of Mercedes Benz cars. The road was closed in the 1990s, after a rockfall caused a death and a subsequent lawsuit, and subsequently reopened after being re-engineered to protect motorists from falling rocks. It was reopened in 2005 as a toll road. The road was again closed for a number of months beginning on 19 June 2008 "as a result of risk areas identified on the mountain above the road". Wikipedia

POTSDAMER PLATZ 11 , Berlin, Germany - "Standing 70 metres high and boasting 18 floors, POTSDAMER PLATZ 11 is one of the three tallest buildings at Potsdamer Platz. Italian architect Renzo Piano created a prominent landmark for the new city centre with this edifice. In dialogue with the neighbouring tower, POTSDAMER PLATZ 1, this skyscraper forms the northern boundary of the quarter. From its triangular base to its glass tip, it points elegantly and precisely as a compass needle at Potsdamer Platz. The double glass façade ensures natural, energy-efficient cooling of the office tower, while the terracotta-clad rear of the building progressively staggers down to the height of the neighbouring structures. My photographic journey through Africa

When I arrived in Central Africa, colourful birds surrounded my house. I just needed to look out the window and point my camera.

My work brought me to Cameroon and other countries in Central Africa, like Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Chad, both Congos and the Central African Republic. I also visited Mauritania and the Republic of South Africa many times; absolutely fascinating.

During my travels I witnessed different landscapes, species, people and lifestyles.

Travelling in Africa is very different from travelling in Europe. It’s more dangerous, and takes more time so requires greater patience. Leading to more opportunities to take photos!

Most of my photos were taken spontaneously, often during travel or simply from my house. Some were taken in national parks and nature reserves.

I hope you will enjoy my photos as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
